In 2.2.2 Some widgets are so hard to control

I can quickly get rid of the Layers widget. But it never stays away. It reappears every time I start the program.

When I need The Library Browser Widget, it is always a BIG project to get to it. Just turning it off and back on (which recovers lost Widgets in 2.2.1) never does it. Redock all widgets does nothing. I blunder around until I get it (never understanding what sequence of steps actually worked) and then I use it and then the next time I start, it is lost again.

I’ve given up on trying to have widgets stay floating correctly (which would make use of LibreCAD easier). But that is mostly due to design flaws in Wayland, not anything wrong in LibreCAD.

I expect most of this is user error.

Any suggestions?

If some of it is bugs and or flawed features, how do I distinguish that from user error?

Some other widgets just behave as I would expect: Stayed docked where I docked them or stay hidden after I hide them and appear when I check them again in the workspace/widgets menu.

hm.. that’s quite a weird situation, I never heard of something similar.

Both geometry and state of widgets are stored in settings and later are restored using standard Qt methods - so far I have no idea it could be that they are not restored.

The only thing to check - are other settings that are modified in Application Prefrences dialog stored and restored properly after the application restart? Could it be that your settings are read-only?

My settings are not read only. That file is changed by the program routinely. I can change many of the widgets and those changes last into the next session.

I haven’t looked for the relevant source code yet. But I expect those widget objects are somehow created in a way or a time that fails to associate them with the previously stored data.

But that would imply it would happen to everyone. I’m surprised to hear it doesn’t.
