I don’t know whether this is user error vs. bug vs. feature.
I don’t want the “categories” toolbar displayed.
I’m not great with icons anyway, I prefer words. Having so many icons makes it harder for me to use the few I routinely need (that I put into DefaultCustom). When I occasionally need some of those others, the extra mouse click to use them from the tools menu is outweighed by the advantage of seeing words rather than icons.
Other toolbars, I was able to turn off and when the program starts, they are still off.
But the categories toolbar comes back every time the program starts.
seen in several different 2.2.2 builds, but just now verified in my local build:
Version: 2.2.2_alpha1-659-g0b2d9b2f3
Compiler: GNU GCC 16.2.1
Compiled on: Sep 14 2026
Qt Version: 6.11.2
Boost Version: 1.90.0
System: Fedora Linux 44 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition)
This looks more like a persistence bug than user error, especially since the other toolbar visibility settings survive a restart. As a quick check, hide Categories, close LibreCAD normally rather than ending the process, then reopen it and see whether the setting still resets. If it does, report it upstream with the exact build information you included and mention that only the Categories toolbar is affected. That distinction should make the saved-window-state problem easier to isolate.
So far as I understand, I was closing it “normally”.
The work around to the problem (since I don’t want right side docking) was to move that toolbar to dock on the right and then eliminate the right side docking.
I haven’t verified which toolbars share the problem with categories, vs. which don’t. Just that some stay away and categories (if changed directly from docked on the left to hidden) doesn’t stay away.
