Hello, I am using librecad since at least 2021.

After the last update, I am missing the text and mtext buttons in the categories toolbar, and also in the menu. Finally I found the commands in the Tools - Dimension menu and toolbar entry. This was embarrassing.

My wishes: Please add

1. a menu category “Text” to the Tools menu and put the “Text” and “Mtext” commands there,
2. a “Text” entry in the toolbar Categories, containing Text and Mtext,
3. the possibility to add / remove commands to the “DefaultCustom” toolbar.

Okay, I found (3) in Options -\>Widgets → Toolbar Creator.

It would help to know which version you updated from and to.

I don’t recall ever seeing them there, and I recently tested a few versions. In some versions they were directly in the tools menu.

In 2.2.2 they are in the “Other” submenu of the tools menu, and in the corresponding submenu of the categories toolbar.

Not in any version I have at the moment.

In my opinion, that answers your whole request. There will never be a lot of agreement on what should be where on the toolbars. If you want it your way, the first step is to set up the DefaultCustom toolbar your way.

BTW, In 2.2.2 (at least in its current pre-release form), all the things related to layout of the workspace (toolbars, widgets, etc.) including that toolbar creator have been moved to the Workspace menu.

I do not in any way speak for the developers of LibreCAD, but I think they are focused on 2.2.2 for any feature requests (rather than adding features to the stable version). The kind of thing you are asking about is already very different in 2.2.2 than in the stable release. So to make a credible feature request, you ought to first try 2.2.2.

DO NOT trust any given day’s build of 2.2.2 to not trash your content and/or otherwise be totally unusable. Some days it feels more robust than the stable release. Some days it is just broken. Grab a copy and look at the features you might want to request changes in. If that day’s build feels pretty stable, test it further.

in one of nearest updates, structure of all menus (main menu bar and context) and toolbars will be fully customizable. I can’t commit this code so far as it not fully completed and tested, yet in 1-2 weeks I hope it will be available for testing (in 2.2.2, for sure)

as far as I can recall, it was from LibreCAD-v2.2.1.4-10-g4178422c7-win64
to LibreCAD-v2.2.1.5-win64 compiled on May 2, 2026.

Okay! I will wait until 2.2.2 is stable.
